Dr. Adolf Frederik Gravenberch
1811 – 1906
The man of the people

The genius

What no man could imagine, amazed the world, the moment when a slave became more then his master. Gravenberch was born in Suriname, a country in South America, and was baptized by his slave master who teaches him practical things in medicine. After 35 years, Gravenberch then became the first slave in the world that received the honor causa from the King of the Netherlands, Willem Alexander Paul Frederik Lodewijk, and was also the first slave that bought him self free to become a surgeon in medicine.

Gravenberch has always help the poor by giving them free medical services. He did miraculous cures which had depreciated by other doctors. And healed many from various ailments. Gravenberch had received from God the gift of healing the sick and he did that until his death.

The Foundation Gravenberch

The foundation Gravenberch was established to honor the works of Dr. A.F. Gravenberch. Today, his great great grandson pastor Vincent Gravenberch and his wife Alexandra, continues with this God given gift by helping others in the world where the need is the greatest.
